Abstract

320,747. Stoney, C. M. Oct. 2, 1928. Tone-arms, resiliently supporting. - In order that the pressure of a gramophone needle on the record during playing may be suitably determined, the tone-arm is supported by adjustable opposed springs, which are so arranged that as the tone-arm is lifted the compression or tension of one spring is increased and that of the other decreased. In the arrangement shown, the tonearm a is pivoted at b in a ring c, which can turn in a bearing d. Lateral abutments e are fixed to the tone-arm on opposite sides of the axis b, and springs g are arranged between these abutments and nuts f adjustably mounted on supports f<1> fixed to the ring c.
