Abstract

320,640. Sutcliffe, J. H. A. April 18, 1928. Bobbins &c. - Wooden bobbins 9, Fig. 1, such as are used in fly frames and in other textile operations, are provided with a resilient metal shield 17, 18 engaging the base 10 without separate securing means. The shield is of U-section and is formed with projections 15, 16 adapted to engage corresponding recesses in the base 10. The shield is also beaded at 20, the beading being adapted to spring over and engage a corresponding ledge on the base 10. The base is notched at 11 to engage the driving-pin 12 while the inner wall 18 is flanged at 21 to engage the recess 22. Alternatively, a number of recesses 23, Fig. 3, is provided and the recess 22 is deep enough to receive the beading 24. In further modifications, the recess 16 is omitted, Fig. 5, the base is bevelled at 25, Fig. 6, to minimize jar on engagement with the pin 12, or the inner wall is also recessed at 27, Fig. 7. The recess 19 in the form shown in Fig. 7 may be omitted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 7621/98, [Class 142, Weaving &c.], and 214,807.
