320,475. Page Bros. (Norwich), Ltd., Haughton, A., Traves, H. E., and Page, J. P. A. Aug. 31, 1928. Fittings, internal.-A carton for fragile articles has an inner skeleton fitting formed from a blank, Fig. 1, having sections e corresponding in number to the sides of the carton and each with a cutout part b corresponding substantially in shape to the article to be retained. The blank is folded on the lines d and adjacent sections, with the exception of the two end sections, are permanently secured together face to face to form a fitting which is cross-shaped in plan. The article c, Fig. 3, is introduced into the fitting between the end sections which are then secured together by a tongue and slot g, h and the fitting is inserted in the carton so that the arms of the cross engage the corners of the carton. The fitting and carton may be secured together and may both be formed integrally from a single blank.
