Hydrocarbons, cracking.-The process and apparatus described in the parent Specification, in which oils are cracked by passage through a series of vaporizer - catalyser-dephlegmator groups, is modified by the insertion of a purifier between the catalyser and dephlegmator to remove sulphur from the oil vapours. The purifier may contain finely divided metals or oxides, and with its adjacent piping is kept at a temperature sufficient to prevent condensation of oil..
