Abstract
320,280. H³lst, L. van. Dec. 11, 1928. Covers, wagon.-A tilt or covering for railway and like open trucks consists of a single sheet 2 of waterproof and fireproof paper, the edges of which are turned over and strengthened by means of wooden battens or by the insertion of wires. The tilt is of substantially the same dimensions as the floor of the wagon, or, preferably, as shown, of slightly smaller dimensions, so that gaps 3 are left along the sides and also, if desired, at the ends, such construction facilitating the escape of water vapour during the cooling of briquettes when the latter constitute the load. Conveniently, the sheet 2 may consist of two layers of paper with an intermediate layer of bitumen and external coatings of bitumen, and is secured to the wagon 1 by a number of parallel transverse iron hoops 4, which are passed through eyelets 5 and can be tightened up so that the sheet 2 is gripped between two elements or layers of each hoop.
