Abstract

320,145. Palmer, T. R. July 13, 1928. Piston and tabular valves. -A faucet for a barrel &c. comprises a tubular part 1 which is slidably and rotatably mounted in a sleeve 5. In the closed or " off " position, Fig. 2, the spout 4 is locked against axial movement by a pin 8 which moves in a bayonet slot 7 in the tube 1. In the open or " on " position the spout 4 points downwards, and the tube 1 is slid inwardly to uncover ports 2. A sealing washer 12 may be provided at the inner end of the tube, or the parts may be a ground fit. Packing 10 enclosed by a gland-nut 9 gives a liquid-tight joint between the tubes, while a lock-nut 13 and washer 14 secures the joint between the faucet and the container. The circumferential part of the bayonet slot 7 may be so arranged that the rotary looking movement to the " off ' position tends to increase the pressure between the closure member 11 and the end of the tube 5.
