Abstract
320,117. Klaxon, Ltd., and Monnot, J. F. July 6, 1928. Commutators.-A commutator or other current interrupting device, particularly for small electric motors as used in sound warning signals, is made from a drawn strip of metal, Fig. 2, cut to the required length, slotted transversely as at c either before or after being bent into cylindrical form, Fig. 6, and then secured in an insulating support E, Fig. 7, the unslotted portion a<1> finally being removed to leave separate insulated segments. The strip is formed with two wedge-shaped ridges a so that each segment of the completed commutator is separately held in the insulating material. The insulating material is preferably moulded so as to fill the space between the commutator segments and a concentrically arranged sleeve D, which sleeve is provided with a middle portion d of reduced diameter so that relative movement between it and the insulation is prevented.
