Abstract
319,576. Kehoe, J. J. Feb. 20. 1921. Dishes, washing.-In apparatus comprising a housing 1 to receive the dishes and sprinkler pipes 31 - - 33 adapted to be reciprocated within the housing, automatic means are provided for opening a water-way through each pipe in succession and simultaneously closing the water-ways through the remaining pipes. In the construction shown, the pipes are mounted on a carriage 9 provided with means for engagement with right and left screw threads on a shaft 3 whereby the carriage travels to and fro along the shaft. A water-chest 14 on the carriage has an inlet 15 connected by an exteusible flexible pipe 16 to a water-supply pipe 17, and three outlet ports 19, 20, 21 leading to the sprinkler pipes 31, 32, 33. A rotary valve provided on the carriage is formed with a port which during rotation of the valve comes successively opposite the ports 19, 20, 21. The top of the valve has three arms 26, 27, 28 which, on reciprocation of the carriage 9, are engaged successively by a pawl 30 on a horizontal arm 29 projecting from the wall of the housing, whereby each of the sprinkler pipes, in turn, sprays liquid on to the dishes. The horizontal portion 33<a> of the pipe 33 may be provided with a wheel 45 engaging a track 40 in the housing.
