318,898. Goldschmidt Akt.-Ges., T. Sept. 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Fumigants. - An alkylene oxide, such as ethylene oxide or propylene oxide, to be used as an insecticidal and germicidal fumigant, for example in treating grain or flour, is admixed with an inert gas such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen in sufficient quantity to render the vapours non-inflammable. Separate vessels with interconnected outlet valves may be used to deliver the two gases, or a 1 in 20 solution of the alkylene oxide in liquid carbon dioxide or other compressed or liquefied gas may be stored in a single container. The use of ethylene oxide propylene oxide, carbon disulphide or vinyl chloride admixed with air is also referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of any one or more of the specified volatile organic compounds in admixture with an inert gas. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 308,661.
