Abstract

318,777. Brown, H. N., and Brown, A. R. Oct. 15, 1928. Peeling vegetables.-A combined knife and vegetable peeler comprises a strip of metal united to or formed with a handle 10, the strip being wider at the end connected to the handle than at its free end, the said wider part containing a paring device and the narrower part forming a knife. The paring device is formed by making a longitudinal slot, sharpening one edge 11 and bending up the metal 12 to form a guard and guide. The free end 13 is sharpened at 15 and is pointed to facilitate the removal of eyes. The handle 10 may be of oval section so that the cutters will automatically tend to lie in the correct position for use. In a modification for use by either right or left-handed persons, two peeling slots are formed and the metal 12 on each side of the device is bent up to form guides. The part 13 may also be sharpened on both sides.
