Abstract

318,275. Imray, O. Y., (Soc. of Chemical Industry in Basle). May 31, 1928. 1:3:5-Triazine derivatives.-Compounds, for improving the durability of rubber, as described in Specification 290,178, and of the general formula in which X and Y are any residues and Z is a hydrogen atom or a radical which is connected with the carbon atom of the cyanuric ring by means of N, O, or S and in which at least one carbon atom of the ring is connected with a nitrogen atom not a member of the ring, are obtained by reaction of one or more halogen atoms of a cyanuric halide with one or more molecules of ammonia or a mono- or di-substitution product thereof such as hydrazine, arylhydrazines, or amines such as monomethylamine, dimethylamine, ethylamine, butylaine, alkylenediamines, cyclohexylamines, dicyclohexylamines, aminopyrazoles, aminotetrazoles, aniline, toluidine, xylidine, naphthylamine, and nuclear and mono- N-substitution products such as halogenanilines, halogentoluidines, nitranilines, nitrotoluidines, aminophenols, aminocresols, arylenediamines, monomethylaniline, and monoethyltoluidine. Unsubstituted halogen atoms in these compounds may be substituted by reaction with water or sulphuretted hydrogen or their substitution products such as alcohols, phenols, naphthols, mercaptans, thiophenols, &c. Further compounds may be made by the action of cyanuric compounds containing halogen or cyanuric compounds containing replaceable hydrogen. Examples include the use of the condensation products (1) from 1 mol. of cyanuric halide and 3 mols. of aniline, (2) from 1 mol. of cyanuric halide, 1 mol. of ammonia and 2 mols. of aniline.
