Abstract

Artificial resins are prepared by heating together sulphur and a primary or secondary monoamine of the benzene or naphthalene series, with the exception of oxyamines, p.-alkylated amines, and N-alkylated anilines, in the proportions of two molecules of amine to more than three atoms of sulphur with or without a catalyst, such as iodine. In examples resins are prepared from aniline, o-toluidine, diphenylamine, and a -naphthylamine. The solubility in acetone &c. decreases and the hardness increases with increasing sulphur content and continued heating. Specification 4792/00 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes also the preparation of the resins from any primary or secondary amine, except p-toluidine and N-alkylated anilines, in the proportion of more than one atom of sulphur to two molecules of amine. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
