Sectional boilers.-In a boiler built up of a number of spaced sections 21 placed side by side, the sections are formed with horizontal rows of baffles 41 projecting into the flues between the sections. The side of the flues are closed bv plates 76, and the gases flow upwards from burners 47 to an uptake at the top of the boiler. The baffles are staggered and are so spaced as to leave straight vertical flue passages A, B between the baffles on adjacent sections and between rows of baffles on the same section. The sections communicate with one another through jointing nipples 28 at the top and bottom, and are secured together by tie rods 36 engaging lugs on the end sections. The boiler is surrounded by a jacket 15 of non-conducting material separated from the boiler sections by dead-air spaces. Each burner is supported upon the tapering upwardly-projecting inner end of its mixing chamber 49, which is supported upon a bar 52, extending between and engaging with blocks 51 on the side boiler sections. A depending lug 58 on each burner engages with a bifurcated lug 59 on the corresponding mixing chamber.
