Abstract
317,696. Lannon, P., and Lannon, D. Nov. 30, 1928. Diaphragms.- One or more rubber discs are adhesively secured to the apex of a conical diaphragm formed of metal or folded into conical form from a disc of flexible material such as cardboard, impregnated fabric &c. in order to preserve the apex of the diaphragm and improve sound reproduction when the diaphragm is supported at its apex. As shown in Fig. 1, a freeedge diaphragm 4 is provided at the apex with rubber discs 11, 12 adhesively secured to the diaphragm and is supported on the rod 5 of the reproducer 6 by conical clamping washers 9, 10. When the diaphragm is formed by folding a flat disc the rubber discs are secured to the flat disc; and the requisite sector is cut from the combined unit which when out of use may be folded about one or more creases formed in the diaphragm. In the form of diaphragm shown in Fig. 4, the disc 13 is provided with one or more rubber discs 14 and a radial strip 19 which forms with the associated radial edge of the diaphragm a mouth adapted to receive the other radial edge. When the disc 13 is folded to form a cone, a recess 21 engages a rivet 22 in order that the diaphragm may retain its cone formation. Specification 263,071 is referred to.
