Abstract

317,339. Lanchester, F. W. April 14, 1928. Loud-speakers; diaphragms. - The diaphragm of a moving-coil loud-speaker communicates with a horn through a hollow central magnet core and a tube of uniform cross-section at least two feet long. The mica diaphragm b, Fig. 1, and coil d are suspended by three or more adjustable cords e in the annular gap of a pot-magnet , the central pole a of which is drilled with a hole f. A tube g preferably of lead and of uniform bore is connected to the passage f and is housed, Figs. 2, 4, in a cabinet containing a horn which has divergent sides and top and bottom, and may expand logarithmically. The base and roof of the horn are formed of panels, and the smaller end is connected to the tube g through a tube k of tapering form outside the cabinet, while the moving-coil unit m is also supported outside the cabinet and attached to the other end of tube g.
