Abstract
316,624. Soc. Industrielle des ProcÚdÚs W. A. Loth. Aug. 1, 1928, [Convention date]. Leader gear for assisting navigation ; aerials.- Current lines between at least two distinct points spaced apart are produced in a conducting medium such as the sea while the navigated vessel is provided with means to determine the characteristics of the current lines produced. The Figure shows a coast 1 with two pairs of conducting-plates 3, 4 and 8, 9 connected to generators 5, 10, and by taking readings from the two sets of lines location may be determined. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the adjacent plates 4, 8 are replaced by a single plate and the cable connecting this plate to shore is utilized as a guide cable, which having no return conductor, provides a circular magnetic field. Reception may be by spaced plates or by a loop aerial which may be tuned.
