Abstract

316,372. Coward, E. S., and White, W. R. May 23, 1928. Energy-absorbing elements. - Relates to im. proved means for securing on brake and clutch drums, bands that are applied thereto to prevent vibration and squeaking when the brake or clutch is applied. The steel band 4 lined with asbestos or other heat-resisting fibrous material has attached at one end 6 thereof a yoke or buckle member 8 through which is passed the other end 7 of the band. By turning a pin 11 screwing into a boss 12 on a yoke 8 and having a bearing in a transverse pin 9 attached to the end 7 of the band, the ends are forced towards each other to cause the band to grip the drum.
