Abstract

315,568. Kandt, R. July 16, 1928. Fluid-pressure. - In hydraulic brakes for vehicles, in addition to the usual reservoir 2 which when the brakes are not applied is in free communication with the system through the pipe 14, an additional reservoir 1 is provided normally cut off from the reservoir 2. Should a pipe in the brake system burst, the liquid in the reservoir 2 is lost, but it may be replenished from the reservoir 1 after the burst has been repaired, by opening the valve 3. When the brake is applied, the check-valve 13 cuts off the reservoir 2 from the brake system. Indicators, applications of.-The reservoir 2 contains a float 5 the rod of which carries a contact 7 which when the liquid level in the reservoir 2 falls to a low point closes an electric circuit through a contact 8 and a lamp 11, thus indicating to the driver when there is a burst in the brakesystem.
