Ovens for laboratory use; water sand, and air baths. -Laboratory apparatus for heating or evaporating liquids comprises a vesse having an upper part removable from a base, the joint be tween the parts con sisting of a liquid seal which is replenished bv liquid condensing on the walls of the vessel. In the oven chosen in the drawings an upper member 5 is received in a gutter 8 on the lower member 6 which is filled with a liquid such as water, the level of which is maintained by a constant level device 13. If desired a shield 5 may be provided on the upper member to overhang the upstanding rim 7 of the lower member.
