Abstract

314,654. Fife, C. W. June 1, 1923. Water chutes.-A water chute' is used in combination with non-seaworthy surf-boards having wheels to run on guides of the runway 2. The latter is supported on a staging 1 removably secured to permanent foundation blocks 22. Wheels on the surf. board run on flat iron rails 4 between guide bars 5 and 6, boards 7 preventing the users (in bathing costume) from being thrown out. The bathers return up steps 17 and ascent 16 dragging the surf-boards up an adjacent way 18. Pivoted pawls 19 prevent the boards running back. In a modification the boards are drawn bv a band or power-driven endless conveyer up a way beneath the bathers' ascent. The surf-board, Fig. 7, comprises side members 8 joined by transverse slats 9 and having an upturned front end 10. The front and rear wheels 11 and 12 (covered by guard plates 13) are of different diameter so that the front inclines upwards. Or the wheels may be of the same size running on rails of different elevation. Hand holds 14 are provided.
