Abstract

313,746. Nasmith, J. W. June 11, 1928. Scythes.-A tool for cutting bracken, thistles or similar growths comprises a cutting blade 11 fixed by a socket 12 upon a sned 5 that is provided with a handle 3 at the extremity of a wooden arm 7, and with a sliding handle 4 that may be clamped in adjusted position by a screw 10. The end of the sned may also be formed as a handle 6. A stay 8 extends between the arm 7 and the sned. The blade 11 is sharpened upon its outer and convex edge 13. It has a slightly hooked end 14 that may have a sharpened edge 15. The inner edge 16 may be sharpened if desired. The cutting edge of the tool may be provided with saw-teeth.
