Doors for passenger vehicles.-In the manufacture of a sheet metal door having a window opening therein, the first stage consists in assembling the component metal stampings to form a completed glass run structure, which is then assembled with the main panel or panels to form the completed door. In the construction shown the glass run structure is built up of inner and outer metal stampings 10, 11 having flanges 12, 13 which are adapted to be spot welded together, while the flange 13 of the outer stamping is provided on the lock side of the door with an extension flange 19. This structure is then inserted within a metal stamping or inner panel 14 and is spot welded thereto at the hinge side along the flanges 12, 13, at the lock side along the extension flange 19 and corresponding portion 18 of the inner panel, and at the upper edge, Fig. 7, by introducing a hooked electrode A through the opening 20<1> which serves for inserting the sliding window. The outer panel stamping 21 is then added, its outer flange 22 being finally crimped over the outer flange 16 of the inner panel and spot welded thereto, while the inner flanges 23, 24 of the inner and outer stampings 10, 11 of the glass run structure are crimped. over the inner flanges 17, 17<1> of the main panel 14, 21.
