Abstract

313,465. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Parry, R. D. Feb. 4, 1928. Speed-maintaining systems.-To maintain constant speed of a D.C. motor 1, the excitation is automatically controlled by a coupled generator 3 with two opposed field-windings 11, 12 strengthened and weakened alternately in quick succession by resistances 13, 14 controlled by a differential relay 18, which is itself kept in oscillation by a vibrating regulator 8. The vibrating contact of the regulator is actuated by a constantly energized winding 9 and another winding 10 subject to continued reversals of current from the generator 3; the other contact of the regulator takes up a position corresponding to the strength of current in a winding 6 which is energized by an auxiliary tachometer generator 4.
