Abstract
313,464. Martinez, N. H., (Craig, R. M.). Dec. 12, 1927. Theatrical appliances.-A theatre stage is lighted by zones of red and blue (or blue-green) light which, in combination, produce substantially white light so that persons in costumes coloured red, blue, and white appear to changethe colour of their clothes as they move from one zone to another. Two rows of red and blue (or blue-green) lamps, 9 and 11 respectively, arranged parallel to the proscenium 2 produce red and blue zones 13 and 14 and a. substantially white zone where the red and blue lights merge. The floor covering 7 is of a. neutral colour such as dark grey, black, tobacco brown, or Indian red. Each dancer-has a red bodice 17, a blue skirt 18, and white stockings 19 so that as each dancer moves backwards and forwards the various parts of the costume change colour, e.g. in the blue zone 14 the red bodices will appear substantially black. Different parts of a trapeze 20 and the costume of the acrobat 23 are also coloured red, blue, and white. Behind the back scene 8 red and blue lamps 35, 36 are used alternately to illuminate parts of a. ship on the scene. 27 and 28 are red and blue spot lights. In a modification the rows of lamps 9 and 11 are at rightangles to the proscenium 2. In further modifications red, white, and blue lamps (or yellow-green, blue-violet, and red lamps) producing the coloured zones are in the auditorium and the coloured zones do not overlap.
