Abstract
237,006. Rickets, W. J., and Sharman, A. W. April 15, 1924. Optical apparatus, applications of. - Performers, puppets, scenery, advertisements, &c. are coloured with zones or bands of three or more colours such as blue, green, and red taken from distinct parts of the spectrum, and are illuminated with a sequence of the same colours, so that movement of dark or light bands over the performer, &c. is caused. A spiral arrangement of the bands causes an apparent spinning .effect, and a performer may be clothed in a stiffened garment, as shown in Fig. 3, when the appearance of a spinning top is produced. The waves may run off at the hands and feet or may move to and fro, or rotate, according to the sequence of the colours. Black and white zones, and surfaces having a metallic lustre may also be introduced. The illuminating means may be a bank of electric lights or coloured vacuum tubes, or colours may be projected through a rotating screen, which may have dark portions. Posters may be displayed on hoardings with side wings to screen extraneous light. According to the Provisional Specification, two complementary colours only may be employed.
