Description

S.M.Khalil 1 1 2 26 '19 LIGHT PROJECTING ARRANGEMENT FOR ADVERTISEMENT
ETC.
This invention relates to light projecting arrangements for producing different (e.g. changing) light patterns, pictures or signs etc. for use for example in advertising (e.g. signs) entertainment (e.g. theatre), education (e.g. demonstrations), art and visible alarm and other light signal technology.
It is known from colour science how an object of one primary colour (e.g. red, blue or green) would appear if it were illuminated with light of another primary colour. A white object, however, would have the colour of the light falling upon it whereas a grey object would assume an intermediate shade of colour.
The present invention utilises this known phenomenon to produce a plurality (two or three) independant patterns to respresent any pattern of areas, ornament script or picture demonstrated in light and dark and any degrees of grey. Light can be of any primary colour as explained hereafter. by providing a means to project sequential two (or three) primary colour light sources on a picture painted exclusively in the same primary colours of the said light sources and white and block one at a time. Different independent patterns may be produced on the same background area.
The independence of each pattern as set out below may be utilised to effect motion illusion and the essential novelty in my claims resides in producing only two 2 independent patterns (three is the maximum possible, after which independence is lost) of dark and light areas (degrees of grey may also be incorporated.
Firstly the two independent patterns are designed, then using a substantially black background, the first pattern is painted over with blue paint then the second is painted with red, then the common areas of the two patterns (i.e. the crossing areas where the two patterns overlap each other) are painted white. When this picture is subjected to blue light exclusively, the first pattern alone will show up light) while the second (painted red) will merge with the black background. If light is changed to red, the second pattern alone will show up.
An example of utilising the invention to give a motion illusion is explained below:
on a black background a bird may be drawn with white body and two pairs of wings, one pair red, up, the second blue, down. If this picture is subjected to blue and red coloured light beams one at a time, a flying bird would be seen.
Degrees of grey can be freely included in the designed patterns, and are achieved by having these areas painted by a proper mixture of either blue or red with a proper degree of grey to give the desired shade degrees for each of the two lights, indepcndently for three pattern versions, it may be necessary to mix two colours with grey.
Some modifications may be included or added to the system within the same basic idea of producing independent patterns by primary colours, here below are some:
Some modifications may add to the effect of the basic idea are stated in the claims, with applications wide range of advertisement, theatre, education demonstration, art, alarms, indicating signals, etc.

Claims (8)

CLAIMS:
1. An arrangement to produce a plurality of independent patterns of dark and light and shaded areas on a common painting area or equivalent of the said patterns, by combining a means to sequence the colour of light projected on the said painting area, between primary colours, and a picture coloured exclusively by the same primary colours plus white and black.
2. An arrangement, as claimed in clain 1 to produce two independent patterns.
3. An arrangement as claimed in claim 1 to produce three independent patterns.
4. An arrangement to produce patterns as in claims 1, 2 or 3, with softer transition between the said patterns affected by gradual change in light colour when such change occurs.
5. An arrangement to produce patterns as in claims 1, 2 or 3 or 4 in which patterns are repeated cyclically.
6. A means to produce patterns as in claims 1, 2 or 3 in which pattern change is stimulated by sound or some other controlled or programmed or incidental stimulator.
7. An arrangement to produce patterns as in claim 6 with delay time(s) incorporated before transition(s) is triggered. 25
8. An arrangement substantially as hereinbefore described.
