Regulating; impeller blades.-The output of a pump is regulated by a thermostatic device in accordance with the temperature of the fluid pumped. In the screw pump shown icr circulating the cooling water in an internal-combustion engine, the inclination of the blades 2 is adjusted by rods 2a connected at one end to the blades and at the other end to a collar 5 rotatably mounted on the driving shaft 1. The collar has an arm 5b to which is attached one end of a spiral bimetallic strip 8, the other end being attached to an extension of the shaft 1. As the temperature of the water rises, the thermostat expands and increases the inclination of the blades :md the output of the pump. The pump may be used also in a reheating system in which the temperature of the liquid is to be maintained constant.
