Abstract
311,384. Soc. of Chemical Industry in Basle. May 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Azo dyes; stilbene dyes.-Azo dyes are made by condensing two molecular parts of the same or different aminoazo or aminopolyazo dyestuffs with one molecular part of dinitrostilbene disulphonic acid or dinitrodibenzyl disulphonic acid or the conversion products of p-nitrotoluene-osulphonic acid. The aminoazo compounds derived from o-oxydiazo compounds may be used in the form of their complex metal compounds. The condensation products may be treated with oxidizing agents. or converted into complex metal compounds. The following examples are specified : (1) The dyestuff sulphanilic acid # a-naphthylamine is condensed with sodium dinitrostilbene disulphonate in the presence of caustic soda; the product dyes cotton brown red. The use of the aminoazo compounds metanilic acid # a-naphthylamine and 2-chloro-1-aminobenzene-5-sulphonic acid # aniline (or m-aminocresol ether) is also specified. (2) The dyestuffs 2-chloraniline- 5-sulphonic acid # aniline and sulphanilic acid # a-naphthylamine are condensed as in the first example; the product dyes cotton orange. (3) The condensation product of dinitrostilbene disulphonic acid and the dyestuff 4-chlor-2-aminophenol # J-acid dyes cotton red-brown and may be after-treated with agents yielding copper in substance or on the fibre; the coppered dyeings are grey and fast to light. (4) The copper compound of the dyestuff 4-chlor-2-aminophenol # J-acid is condensed with dinitrostilbene disulphonic acid and the product oxidized with sodium hypochlorite; the final dyestuff gives olive grey dyeings fast to light and alkali on cotton. (5) The chromium compound of the dyestuff 4-chloro- 2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid # J acid is condensed with dinitrostilbene disulphonic acid; the product dyes cotton olive; copper and chromium compounds may be condensed simultaneously; the dyestuff J-acid # p-phenylenediamine # salicylic acid may be similarly condensed.
