Microphones.-The electrodes 3 4 of a granular microphone e a c h comprise a plurality of electrically connected layers of metal gauze between which extends the layer of carbon 2 thus ensuring good contact with the electrodes. The electrodes may be of precious metal or of copper which may be plainized or plated with gold or silver. The electrodes may be segmental in shape and arranged as shown, so that the direction of current flow through the carbon is parallel to the diaphragm.
