Abstract
310,030. Somajni, G. April 20, 1928, [Convention date']. Addition to 305,135. Controlling motors by varying terminal voltage; regenerative systems.-The arrangement described in the parent Specification for controlling a compound-wound traction motor A by applying graduated voltages obtained from a dynamotor is modified by disposing the segmental contacts of the controller C so as to give, in effect, two sub-positions for each step of applied voltage, and also by the provision of a second subsidiary drum switch C" for short-circuiting series resistance R at one of the two sub-positions corresponding to each voltage step. A lost-motion coupling N between the drums C and C<11> interchanges the two sub-positions in which the shortcircuit is made, according as the drum C is being turned forwards for accelerating or backwards for braking. Part of the resistance R may be controlled by a differential relay connected to additional contacts on the drum C<11>. The resist ance R may be replaced by a counter-voltage machine mechanically coupled' to the dynamotor.
