309,238. Brooks, H. Jan. 11, 1928. Addition to 298,247. Wire strings; materials, special, strings of.- The core of the racket string of the parent Specification is formed of a stranded wire, each strand of which is covered with a spirally twisted or woven coating of fibrous material. The coating described in the parent Specification may be replaced by a coating formed of a mixture of powdered size and asbestos. A waterproof coating of white shellac or other varnish is provided. To obtain greater resilience the strings may be supported by rubber cushioning members 4 of dome shape; alternatively spring supports 3, which mav be of the form shown in Fig. 2, may be provided, In a modification, Fig. 6, the racket is strung over a strip 13 of rubber, preferably protected by a layer of canvas, leather, &c.
