Commutator switching - arrangements. - Relates to a rotary switch type rectifier of the kind comprising a pair of conducting segments spaced apart on the periphery of an insulating disc 3 synchronously rotated by a motor 2 co-operating with pairs of fixed brushes connected respectively to the supply and load circuits, and consists in projecting jets of oil radially from the disc at points near the end of the segments so that arcing at the moments of make and break is prevented or reduced. Oil is delivered by centrifugal action through inclined passages 13 formed in an insulating member 11 secured to the under face of the disc 3, the whole device being immersed in oil in a container 15 provided with a filter 16. The brushes are in the form of spring-urged rollers and are mounted in the wall of an insulating cylinder 10. Several sets of discs may be provided to enable polyphased currents to be rectified.
