Rolling-mandrels.-Hot mandrels from a rolling-mill are lifted by a device h to ways i from which the mandrels are taken one by one by projections e on a pair of chains driven either by hand at g or mechanically in synchronism with the mill or otherwise. The mandrels are thus maintained spaced and cooling air has free access to every part of them. The mandrels pass by a shoot k to an incline 1 leading to a cooling trough m provided with lifting-means for returning the mandrels via the device h to the mill. The mandrels may if desired be under the control of the projections e during passage over the incline l.
