Abstract

308,933. Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Simister, G. W. June 29, 1928. Vacuum cleaning - apparatus. - In motor-driven vacuum cleaners &c. the exhaust issuing partly through holes 15 and partly through the central hole 25 is used for blowing by taking the nozzle 24 off the suction end and inserting it into the exhaust opening 25, such action moving a bridge piece 13 which carries forward with it the metal annular saucer 14 until it abuts against the annular disc 15 and so closing the apertures 15 and so increasing the blast through the nozzle. The annulus 14 is normally held balanced between springs 12, 16 clear of the apertures 15, but when the nozzle 24 is inserted its taper fit holds it tight against the annulus 10.
