Abstract

308,423. Johnson, A. F. Feb. 13, 1928. Surface treatment with liquid materials.- Apparatus for spreading tar on roads comprises a broom formed of several sections a, b, c pivotally attached to one another at o in approximate alignment, and hinged side sections d, e, the free ends of which are connected by an adjustable rod w supporting a canvas strip x which serves to confine the flow of tar. The broom is drawn behind a lorry or tar distributor by chains y and is guided by handles h attached to the brush section a. The pressure on the. handles is transferred to the other sections of the brush by spring-supported stays n, m, s. Adjustable stays g serve to hold the side sections in several angular positions.
