307,939. Hess, K., and Trogus, C. March 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 301,752. Ammonical-copper cellulose solutions.-In preparing ammonical-copper cellulose solutions from the products prepared by the pretreatment process of the parent Specification, excess of free caustic alkali over the amount required to produce a highly concentrated spinning solution containing the equivalent per cent of caustic soda is removed by adding during the dissolving of the copper alkali cellulose, the requisite quantity of a. suitable salt or acid, for example, copper sulphate ammonium chloride or sulphate, or sulphuric, hydrochloric or carbonic acids. In an example, wood pulp is converted into copper alkali cellulose as described in the parent Specification and, after pressing, is dissolved in a solution comprising ammonia, water, copper stdphate, and ammonium sulphate. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the removal of the excess alkali by uniformly wetting the pressed celluose product with water and then pressing heavily. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
