Abstract

Constant-speed control systems. - In order that a motor 2 may run at a constant speed relative to a master motor 1, a series field-winding 4 of the motor 2 is differentially compounded with a. shunt field-winding 6, and a correcting field-winding 9 is switched in positively or negatively whenever there is a sufficient angular difference between the positions of a segmental contact-disc 11 on the shaft of the motor 1 and a brush-carrier 17 driven by the motor 2. A number of motors may be similarly controlled from a common master motor. In a modification, the field-winding is switched in gradually through a stepped resistance 10, the different steps being connected to different segments of the disc 11. The invention is applied to motors driving elements of paper-making machinery.
