Abstract
307,287. Waterer, J. W., and Barrow, Hepburn, & Gale, Ltd. Sept. 7, 1927. Divided on 306,230. Portmanteaux and hand and like bags.-In a compact stowing handle for portable articles and other purposes and comprising a longitudinally flexible handle capable of being brought into an arched position for carrying or of normally lying flat, approach and recession of the handle ends is effected by crank action. Each end of a handle 2 is looped over the crank-pin portion 3 of a crank 4, the outer ends 5 of which are pivoted in a staple-like fitting 6, the ends of the handle approaching one another when the handle is raised. A spring strip 10 in the handle is secured at its ends directly to the cranks 4. Means may be provided for keeping the handle in the raised or flat position.
