Paper and like bags; envelopes.-In paper &c. bags and envelopes formed from blanks the lateral portions 12 of which extend above the upper end of the middle portion 10, but do not extend so far down as the lower end 13 of the middle portion, the upper end 14 of the rear wall of the bag, which is formed by folding over and pasting together the lateral portions of the blank, is folded over upon itself and pasted and a strand of bendable wire 17 is disposed in the fold, the wire extending transversely of the bag and being coterminous with the fold. The blank may be formed with slits 15 on a line with the upper edge of the middle portion of the blank and extending therefrom towards the lateral edges of the blank. the portions 16 defined by the slits projecting beyond the side edges of the bar when the folding and pasting operations have been effected.
