Abstract

306,350. Faudi, F. June 20, 1928. Ball-jointed hinges. -In a ball-joint more particularly adapted for the steering rods of motor vehicles, and comprising a ball member 4, the upper and lower cup-shaped bearing members 2, 3 are secured in position by bending over the edge 5 of the housing 1. The deformation of the edge is effected by a spinning operation or by other suitable means. The upper cup-shaped member 3 may be formed as an oil cap 7, and a spring 8 provided to engage the ball 4. An additional spring 9 maintains the ball 10 for the oil cap in the closed position. In a modification, an oil cap is secured in the upper part of the bearing 3.
