Abstract

Oct. 10, 1927. yarns and threads.-A compound yarn comprising a core of cotton and a covering of artificial silk is formed by doubling a twisted artificial silk varn or thread with a cotton thread in a direction opposite to that of the twist of the artificial silk yarn so that the latter untwists and covers the core thread. The compound yarn has a soft and velvet-like finish; and to enhance the finish the compound yarn or its components may be treated with a solution of soap, oil, and a fat solvent such as Marseilles soap, olive oil, and carbon tetrachloride.
