Yarns and threads. - In the manufacture of cored yarns by doubling a core yarn with a covering varn. the two yarns are twisted together in such a. manner that in the finished compound yarn or thread the covering yarn has a twist of opposite direction to that of its initial twist. Where a core yarn and a covering yarn are of opposite twist they may he first twisted together in the direction of twist of the covering yarn, then twisted in the direction of twist of the core yarn until the covering yarn has imparted to it a twist of opposite direction to its initial twist.
