Abstract

305,900. Kathner, A. T. June 26, 1928. Roller-way conveyers.-In a conveyer for furnaces comprising a series of discs mounted on parallel rotary shafts, the hub of each disc is spaced from its shaft in order to reduce the transmission of heat to the shaft. In one construction each disc 3, Fig. 1, is formed with an integral sleeve-like hub 4, Fig. 3, having an internal diameter substantially greater than the diameter of the shaft 1. Radial arms 5 projecting from the inner surface of the hub, or from a ring disposed within the hub, keep it in concentric relation with the shaft. One end. of each hub is reduced to fit into the adjacent end of the next hub and these parts are provided with spaced lugs 8 and recesses 9, respectively, to prevent relative rotation. The hubs of the. end discs are engaged with spacers 6 which turn with the shafts. These spacers also may be used to separate the discs. The space between the hubs, or the spacers, and the shaft is packed with asbestos fibre or other heat insulating material. In another construction the discs are replaced by hollow members 3b, Fig. 6, the hubs of which have the ends toothed for interengagement. In other constructions each hub 4<c>, Fig 7, has a pair of internal ribs 17 which embrace the shaft and a pair of external ribs 18, and each hub 4<d>, 'Fig. 8. has a slight swelling 3d which forms the carrying surface.
