The thread is directed tangentially on to the core a by a guide roller g and a forked guide on the arm d' which supporbs the automatically-relieved pressure roller d. A roller h is provided to actuate a stop-motion e.g. of the kind described in Specification 278,641, on breakage of the thread or variation in tension.
