Porcelain, carthenware, and like plastic compositions.-In order that unglazed ceramic ware may be fired at lower temperatures than usual, a flux composed of an alkaline silicate or of a borate of an alkaline earth metal, including magnesium, or of a mixture of these, is added to the usual body of composition in proportions of from 2 per cent to 5 per cent. The temperature required for firing corresponds to that of the glost oven. Specification 253,184 is referred to.
