Abstract

302,392. Collinson's Precision Screw Co., Ltd., and Collinson, F. E. Sept. 15,1927. Vacuum tubes.-In a valve-holder in which two sets of spaced contacts are arranged so that the valve is mounted by a movement in a direction lengthwise of the pins and a subsequent movement transverse thereto, the contacts are shaped so that the pins slide over the contacts which bear against the side surfaces of the pins. As shown, the holder is in two parts 10, 20, and spring contacts 13 are mounted on an upstanding support 11 on the part 10, clip contacts 23 being mounted on a support 22 carried on the part 20 by insulating legs 21. The valve is mounted by inserting the pins at one end within the contacts 13 by a longitudinal movement, and subsequently moving the other pins into engagement with the contacts 23 by a movement at right-angles to the first movement. A screen for a screened-grid valve consists of two parallel plates fitting around the valve, one plate 31 being secured to the holder and the other plate 30 being formed with an elongated aperture so that it may be moved along the valve or transversely in planes parallel with the fixed plate. The aperture in the fixed plate is large enough to permit movement of the valve when mounting in the holder.
