Abstract

302,091. Reichmann H. March 5, 1928. Grab-buckets.-In a grab for taking up scrap iron, ore, &c. having a number of grabbing arms C pivoted on a lower block B and opened and closed by links D connected to an upper block A. the lower block is free to tilt, when any one jaw encounters a resistance about the pivot at which that jaw is attached to it, and the opposite jaw is thus able to complete the closing movement. The links D may be flexible so as to yield laterally and permit the jaws to turn out of their normal plane of movement, and all the pivots of the grab have a lateral play in their bearings greater than the usual tolerance. The links D may be built up of two or more flexible strips spaced apart by distance pieces, ribs c<1> on the grab arms passing between them. Specification 286,706 is referred to.
