Apparatus fitted to vehicles; hydrostatic apparatus.-In a hydrostatic weighing-apparatus fitted to a vehicle, the load-carrying platform is raised from the chassis by forcing fluid into a number of pressure cylinders connected to an indicating and/or recording gauge device which comes into operation only when, the whole of the load is supported on the points of contact. The pressure cylinders B are rigidly fixed to the frame of the chassis A and fluid is supplied through a pipe H by means of a pump F. The piston of the first cylinder rises and pushes a superposed lifting piston B<2> into contact with the load-carrying platform (not shown) and raises it at this point. The piston then uncovers an outlet and the fluid passes along a pipe H' to the second cylinder and so on to the remaining cylinders when the platform is entirely raised from the chassis and the weight is indicated or recorded on a gauge device C. The fluid in the last cylinder communicates by a pipe K with a relief valve D provided with electric contacts and a bell E' to signal the completion of the lifting. After passing the valve D the fluid is returned to a tank M for re-use.
