Abstract
178,018. Monks, P. J. Ma.y 21, 1921. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Hydrostatic and pneumatic apparatus.-Relates to a weighing-machine of the type in which the load compresses a liquid or gas, through the medium of flexible diaphragms, and is indicated by means of a pressure gauge under the action of the liquid. The fluid medium is contained in reservoirs 1 which are connected to each other by a system of pipes 10, and to the pressure gauge 3 by a pipe 9. A supply pipe 17 having a non-return valve is fitted to the system 10, and may be connected to a pump for giving initial pressure to the fluid. The objects to be weighed are placed on a platform 6, which is supported on four bosses 7, resting on recessed and chamfered pedestals 4. These pedestals are supported by flexible diaphragms 2, and may move in a vertical direction in the guide-plate 12 which also serves to clamp the diaphragms 2. The diaphragms are of flexible steel or brass and transmit the load to the fluid, while the weight of the load is indicated by the gauge 3. Specification 927/82 is referred to.
