Abstract
300,755. Thomas, J. L. H. Oct. 14, 1927. Petrol and like cans and receptacles, detachably securing to running-boards.-A holder for petrol cans and like receptacles comprises a pair of anglemembers A<1>, A<2> adapted to be fixed to therunning-board or other part of a motor-vehicle and extending along two sides of the can &c., and a pair of clamping rods B<1>, B<2> extending between the members A<1>, A<2> and adapted to engage the bead of the can, one of the rods B<1> being adjustable in slots L to allow for variation in the width of the can and the other rod B<2> being tiltably connected to one member A<1> and adapted to be secured in an inclined slot M in the other member A<2>. The securing device for the rod B<2> preferably consists of a, lever C pivoted at F to the member A<2> and having an inclined slot S for forcing the rod B<2> downwardly, the lever being held in its securing position by a catch E engaging a recess 0' in the member A<2>.
